I have a domain name for the music industry and im looking for advice and suggestions on how to advance and develop a new site.

Im looking for an advanced script to be able to offer downloadable music legally for a fee. I should be able to add albums, songs, lyrics and much more into the site.

Im also wondering on how other legal sites offering downloadable mp3:s gives back commissions to authors, is that by percentage ?

Do they make a deal with different record labels?

Hi Jonathan

I can give you some scripts that you should be able to create a music portal with.

First one http://www.jamroom.net/ free up to $100 for unlimited artists

Second one - based on phpnuke and music module http://sourceforge.net/projects/nuketopmusic/

That's the two that i know of, please add more in this thread if you find other good ones

Some of your questions i'd like to know as well such as how commissions are sent to authors vs recordlabels involvement in this and that. So i cant help you with that.

Hi Jonathan. I market some production music on a couple of sites: Productiontrax.com and Audiosparx.com. These sites take a percentage.

Maybe you're looking to offer more mainstream music, but these sites offer legal royalty free music at different licensing levels. The most basic is for personal use.

I thought that may be of interest for dealing with artists that don't have an existing publishing deal?
